It found that nationwide job openings decreased slightly in May 2014 but were 22.6% higher than in May 2013. The slight decrease in job openings follows three months of steady gains.ur monthly Employment Outlook shows that the job market remains robust, especially in transportation jobs and construction jobs, an encouraging sign for the U.S. economy, said James Beriker, President and CEO of Simply Hired. The very small decrease of 0.1% in nationwide job openings is just noise, given that we are still 22.6% above last years levels.Job openings dip in three-quarters of all industriesJob openings decreased in 14 out of 18 industries in May 2014. A handful of industries posted gains, with significant increases in transportation (22.7%) and construction (6.8%). Legal jobs (-13.7%) and retail jobs (-10.9%) saw the fruchtwein significa nt decreases during this period.Personal care and transportation roles increaseAlmost half of all occupation categories (11 out of 23) experienced growth in job openings in May 2014. Personal care workers (22.8%) and transportation (19.4%) roles experienced the largest amount of growth month-over-month. Lawyers, judges and legal support (-33.9%) roles faced the largest decline in May 2014.
